SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah women's soccer team thrashed New Mexico in a 1-0 contest. The Utes outshot the Lobos 27-8, including 14 shots on goal. Utah is now 8-4 and 1-0 in conference play.
Senior Staci Burt slammed Utah's game-winner. In the 42nd minute, freshman forward Kim Naylor pounded a shot that was blocked by the Lobo keeper. Burt gathered the deflected ball for the goal.
Utah resume Mountain West Conference play Sat., Oct. 9 at 8:00 p.m. when the take-on in-state rival Brigham Young in Provo.
