SAN DIEGO - The Utah women's soccer team defeated San Diego State in a 1-0 contest today. The Aztecs, currently ranked 10th in the NSCAA West Region, tied the Utes with 10 shots. The Utes however had three shots-on-goal and held SDSU to one during the game.
Freshman defender Cortney Johansen scored the game's only goal. In the 43rd minute, freshman Kim Naylor shot a quick pass to Johansen who made the crucial shot.
Goalkeeper Courtney Hills earns her fifth shutout of the season boosting Utah's season record to 9-5 with a 2-1 Mountain West Conference record. Utah is now tied with San Diego State in the MWC standings.
Utah continues conference play on Sat., Oct. 16 at 6:00 p.m. when they face the UNLV Rebels in Las Vegas, Nev.
