SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah softball program announced its first transfer portal addition of 2026 on Wednesday in the person of catcher Anya German.
"We're thrilled to welcome Anya German to Utah Softball," said coach
Amy Hogue. "She is a power hitter and an experienced catcher with a calming presence behind the plate. Her competitiveness and the days she's logged on the field will be a tremendous addition to our program."
An Austin, Texas native who will be a junior in 2027, German comes to Utah after a sophomore year at California in which half of her hits went for extra bases, including five home runs. She also logged five doubles, drove in 20 runs and posted a .460 slugging percentage. From behind the plate, German threw out 11 attempted base stealers.
German began her collegiate career at Texas Tech, where she played in 30 games and made 16 starts while helping the Red Raiders reach the Women's College World Series Championship Series in 2025. She hit .288 during her rookie year and piled up 14 RBIs while also crafting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.
