OKLAHOMA CITY –
Mia Gomez was named to the D1Softball Freshman All-American Second-Team, the publication announced on Thursday.
This recognition adds to a list of honors for Gomez that also includes spots on the All-Big 12 Second-Team and All-Freshman Team and NFCA All-Mountain Region Third-Team. The California native earned these accolades by putting together one of the best rookie years in Utah history. She started it by reaching base in her first 36 collegiate games, the longest on-base streak in program history. The 11 homers she belted tied for the fourth-most ever by a Utah freshman, while her 64 hits, 13 doubles and .490 on-base percentage all rank in the top 10 in the Big 12. Her .383 batting average was the highest on the roster and she tied for the team lead in multi-hit performances, with 17, and multi-RBI games, with 12.
This is the second Freshman All-American selection for Utah in as many years, as
Kennedy Proctor earned that title from D1Softball in 2025.
