GREENWOOD, Ind. –
Hailee White,
Kayla Lyon and
Raci Miranda were all named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday.
For White, this marks back-to-back seasons she's earned academic all-district honors after she spent her season year crafting a 3.87 GPA as she pursued her degree in Psychology. On the field, White was one of only two Utes who started all 56 games. She provided the Utes with a steady bat to the tune of a .295 average, finished among the team leaders in walks, with 27, and steals, with five and, in the field, led the squad with 116 assists.
Lyon earned a 3.58 GPA as she worked toward a Criminology degree and did so while posting a stat line that included a .254 average, five home runs and 29 RBIs. She also finished third on the team in assists with 82. Lyon smacked Utah's first home run of the season on Feb. 6 in a win over UC Riverside and she blasted grand slam on April 4 against Southern Utah.
Miranda had an excellent senior year both in the circle and in the classroom, where her GPA stood at 3.68 as she aimed for a degree in Finance. On the field, she collected nine victories while pitching to a 2.84 ERA that ranked seventh in the Big 12. Her .224 opponent's batting average led the Utes and her two saves tied for the team-high. Miranda was at her best on Feb. 22, when she fired a two-hit shutout against UC Riverside.
