SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track & field team wrapped up the first day of another busy weekend on the track and was highlighted by
Glo Hussey capturing the win in the pentathlon at the Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho.
HUSKY CLASSIC
Josie Fale had the best time among the handful of Utes running in the 3000m race, placing second in her heat and 13th-overall with a run of 9:18.24 to just miss out on her PR of 9:17.37.
Mackenzie Rogers was the next best finisher for Utah, crossing the finish line at 9:25.02 for 24th-overall.
Emily Junginger (9:28.91), Sona Korilova (9:44.75) and
Allie Bruce (10:04.34) would round out the rest of the Utes competing in the 3000m.
Later in the 5000m race,
Annastasia Peters recorded a top-10 finish after posting a time of 16:10.62 for ninth-overall.
Utah's DMR squad
Bri Rinn,
Emily Martin,
Kyla Martin and
Erin Vringer closed out the day in the PNW with a third-place finish recording a time of 10:47.98 - which would've be the second-fastest time in program history. The quartet ran the sixth-fastest time in NCAA history last year in Seattle with a run of 10:42.56.
TYSON INVITATIONAL
María Alvarado and
Lela Divinity got Utah started at the Tyson Invitational in the university division of the 60m hurdles with Alvarado running an 8.86 while Divinity recorded a mark of 8.93.
Sophomore
Chelsea Amoah nearly beat her personal best in the 60m prelims after running a 7.47 (7.461) to take second in her heat. Meanwhile, fellow teammate
Matejah Mangum recorded a time of 7.65.
Kinzlee Riddle concluded the day for Utah at the Tyson Track Center with a 55.01 in the 400m dash.
MOUNTAIN STATE GAMES
Glo Hussey had a great showing on Friday at the Mountain State Games, winning the pentathlon with a score of 3498.
She first opened with a 9.16 (aa) in the 60m hurdles before capturing the victory in the high jump with a top height of 1.68m (5-6). After throwing a 9.16m (30-0.75) in the shot put, Hussey posted her second win of the day with a leap of 5.53m (18-1.75) in the long jump.
Hussey would clinch her pentathlon win in the final event with a mark of 2:36.63 (aa) in the 800m run.
On the track,
Susmitha Jayanthi posted 8.00 (aa) flat in the 60m dash.
Kait Durham had the best finish for Utah in the 200m dash with a time of 26.30 (aa) while Jayanthi ran 26.53 (aa). Durham then capped off the day for the Utes in Pocatello, Idaho, with a 400m dash run of 59.03 (aa).
