UTAH FOOTBALL: NEED TO KNOWS
 • The Utes are 8-0 to start a season for the first time since 2010. It's the sixth time in program history Utah has opened a campaign with eight straight victories (1930, '94, 2004, '08 and '10).  Â
• Six of Utah's eight wins this season have been by 14+ points, tying with Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame and UCLA for the most in Power 4. The Utes' average margin of victory is +23 ppg this season and only two of eight wins have been by one-possession margins.
• Utah has won 14 straight games dating back to the 2025 season, the longest active winning streak in the FBS. It's the longest streak for a Utah team since winning 16 straight from Dec. 20, 2007-Sept. 12, 2009. Utah has won 10 straight conference games, tying the longest active streak in the FBS (Miami – 10).
• Utah is one of two non-SEC teams to beat an SEC team this season, defeating Arkansas 43-10 in Week 2. The rest of the country is 1-28 vs. the SEC in nonconference games. Utah passed for 301 yards and had 441 yards of total offense in that game, while SEC defenses average just 333.6 total yards allowed in 2026.    Â
Â
THE NUMBERS
• Quarterback Devon Dampier became Utah's all-time leading rusher for a QB at Cincinnati on Saturday with 1,228 career rushing yards, while also improving to 18-2 as the starter in two seasons as a Ute. Dampier's .900 winning percentage over the last two seasons ranks as the best in the FBS and he is one of just nine FBS QBs this season to have a 150 or better passing efficiency and total of 350+ rushing yards. He's the only FBS QB to both pass and rush for 150 yards vs. a ranked opponent in 2026.
• The Utes' defense has been making it tough on opposing offenses, allowing just 102 total points (15.9 ppg: 15th FBS, 3rd Big 12). Utah's passing efficiency defense ranks sixth in the FBS and leads the Big 12 (105.96), while the rushing defense is giving up just 101.4 ypg (22nd FBS, 5th Big 12) after allowing 181.2 ypg in 2025 (108th FBS).
• Utah has recorded 200+ passing yards and 130+ rushing yards in all eight games this season. Since 2000, the only FBS team to start a season with nine straight such games, while winning each one, was Boise State in 2010.
• The Utes have outscored opponents by 83 points (89-6) in the first quarter this season, both the highest point differential in the first quarter in the FBS and the fewest points allowed. Utah is also outscoring opponents 70-27 in the fourth quarter.
