SALT LAKE CITY — Head Coach
Gavin Petersen announced on Wednesday that GeAnna Luaulu-Summers has joined the Utah women's basketball program as director of operations.
"I'm really excited to get to work with GeAnna here at Utah," Petersen said. "I had the honor and privilege of recruiting her to and coaching her at the University of the Pacific for one season before making the move here to Utah. GeAnna was a great player at Pacific and has worked her way up in the coaching profession utilizing the same work ethic and commitment she had as a player. Over the last six years, she has worked for some well-respected coaches in our business, bringing with her great knowledge and experience in the day-to-day operations of running a women's basketball program. GeAnna will be an amazing connector for our players, donors, and our Ute fans. She has hit the ground running, and we welcome her to Utah with open arms."
Luaulu-Summers joins Utah after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach for Seattle U women's basketball.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the University of Utah women's basketball program and even more thrilled to be reunited with coach Gavin again," Luaulu-Summers said. "I'm looking forward to contributing to a culture of excellence, learning from a talented staff and helping our student-athletes grow on and off the court."
Prior to her time at Seattle, Luaulu-Summers spent the 2022-23 season at Oregon as the Ducks' director of creativity and student athlete support. Prior to Oregon, she spent three seasons at her alma mater, Pacific, working as the team's digital media specialist from 2019-21 and serving as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season.
Luaulu-Summers finished her collegiate playing career in 2018 as one of the most prolific scorers in Pacific program history, ranking sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,322 points. She was a back-to-back All-West Coast Conference First-Team selection in her final two seasons.
After earning her undergraduate degree in sports management from Pacific in 2018, Luaulu-Summers played professionally overseas with the Lakeside Lightning of the Australia-State League, where she led the Lightning to a 16-6 record while averaging 16.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game on 40.7 percent shooting.
