MORGANTOWN, W.V. – The Utah women's basketball team fell 75-46 to No. 18 West Virginia on Wednesday evening.
Utah was led by Mayé Touré's 12 points and nine rebounds. The Utes are now 21-7 overall on the season and sit at 12-5 in Big 12 action.
GAME SUMMARY
Utah struggled in the first quarter shooting just 2-of-14 from the field and had just five points, the lowest scoring quarter for the Utes this season. Utah did hold West Virginia to 13 points to trail by eight points going into the second quarter of play.
Early in the second quarter the Mountaineers went on a 6-0 run and continued to apply pressure to Utah's offense. Utah found a little momentum knocking down three, three pointers in the second. WVU only outscored Utah 17-13 in the second quarter but the Mountaineers maintained for a 30-18 lead going into the halftime break.
The Utes only allowed the Mountaineers a three-point edge in the third quarter but WVU's first half performance still gave them a 51-36 lead going into the final quarter of play.
WVU continued to control the pace of the game throughout the fourth quarter and ran away with the 75-46 win.
LEADERS
Utah had just one Ute score in double figures and were led by Mayé Touré's 12 points and nine rebounds.
Gianna Kneepkens added nine points while
Kennady McQueen added eight.
COMPARISON
Utah shot 31.5% from the field while West Virginia shot 48.4% from the field. Utah went 21.9% from deep making 7-of-32 while WVU went 39.1% shooting 9-of-23. The Utes went 5-of-8 from the free throw line for 62.5% while the Mountaineers went 6-of-7 for 85.7%.
Utah had 11 assists on 17 made field goals while West Virginia had 14 assists on 30 made field goals. The Utes outrebounded the Mountaineers 37-34. West Virginia forced Utah into 28 turnovers and converted that into 35 points. Utah forced WVU into 16 turnovers and only scored three points off those turnovers.

The Utes final home game will be March 1 against rival BYU before heading to the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City, March 5-10.
