Head Coach Gavin Petersen
Overall Statement . . .
"Winning on the road is always difficult so you have to enjoy it. I don't care who it is, there's always adversity that comes up. I was proud that we were able to come together and respond after the Oklahoma State loss and put that behind us. It was good to get off to a good start on this road trip before we head to Morgantown to take on West Virginia."
On the team's efforts today . . .
"The two things that jump out to me is we held Cincinnati to eight offensive rebounds. That's the focus and grit and determination that we challenged our team with. We gave up 20 last week and that was uncharacteristic of us. We addressed it and our players accepted the challenge. The other thing I'm super proud of is 26 assists on 34 made baskets. Really proud of how the ball was moving today. It was moving exceptionally well today and we were able to have open shots that we knocked down."
On Kennady McQueen's most games played record . . .
"It's really cool for a legacy stat like that to be hers. She's goes about and handles her day-to-day in the right way. She's a great role model for all young girls out there. She's a tremendous basketball player and an even better person. It's really cool for Kennady because she has done everything we've ever asked of her. Whether it's guarding the best player from our opponent, coming off screens ready to shoot, to spotting up, she's capable of doing so much. I'm grateful she's been in a Utah uniform and has left her mark on this program."
Gianna Kneepkens, junior, guard
On Kennady McQueen's impact on the program . . .
"I've loved playing with Kennady. It's sad it's coming to an end here but she is someone I look up to. She's very tough and I think people say that about her a lot but I get to see it every day. She plays through pain, she jumps in for rebounds, she dives on the floor and she works really hard. She also happens to be a great person and one of my really great friends. I love Kennady and I've loved playing with her the last four years."
UP NEXT
Utah will travel to West Virginia Feb. 26 for the last regular season road game. The Utes final home game will be March 1 against rival BYU.
