SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah softball team was handed a 6-0 defeat by the Weber State Wildcats on Tuesday evening at Dumke Family Softball Stadium in Salt Lake City.
Utah is now 12-31 in 2025.
The Wildcats found the early lead courtesy of an unearned run in the first, but Utah starter
Shelbee Jones kept her team in the game with two scoreless innings after that, including a 1-2-3 frame in the second.
In each of the first three innings, the Utes put a runner in scoring position, but they couldn't find a way to break through on the scoreboard. WSU then tallied another unearned run to go up 2-0 in the fourth. Jones put forth a valiant effort for home team in the circle, throwing five innings without permitting an earned tally.
Unfortunately for Utah, they remained unable to mount a comeback in the late innings while Weber State added insurance to build a lead the Utes could not overcome.
