 MORGAN SCALLEY NAMED HEAD COACH
• Morgan Scalley was named Utah's next head coach on Dec. 13 and will lead the team for the bowl game. Scalley, a Salt Lake City native and U alum who has been on the coaching staff since 2008, has served as safeties coach that entire time and was tabbed defensive coordinator in 2016.
• Regarded as one of the brightest defensive minds in the business, Scalley was a finalist for the 2019 Broyles Award. He played for the Utes from 2001-04 and was part of Utah's 2004 team which went 12-0 and defeated Pittsburgh in the Fiesta Bowl as the first "BCS Busters".
 BOWL ROLL
• New Year's Eve will mark the Utes' 27th bowl appearance all-time and seventh trip to the Las Vegas Bowl. Utah is 17-9 in bowl appearances and 4-2 in the Las Vegas Bowl. The team is also searching for its first win over Nebraska after four prior regular season matchups (1968, '80, '89, '92).
 UTAH FOOTBALL: NEED TO KNOWS
• The Utes enter the Las Vegas Bowl with 3,237 rushing yards on the season; that total is 27 away from setting a new program record. The current top mark is held by the 1984 team, which racked up 3,263 yards on the ground.
• Along similar lines, Utah has scored 37 rushing touchdowns during the 2025 campaign. It is tied for second-most in a season; the 2022 team scored 38 rushing touchdowns which stands as the record.
• Utah has eight wins by at least 25 points this season, tied for the most in the FBS. That ranks as the most by a Big 12 team in a single campaign since Baylor in 2013 (also eight).
• Utah was one of just two FBS teams with two regular season losses which had both of its defeats come against opponents ranked in the Top 12 in the final CFP rankings.
