LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Utah track & field team wrapped up its week long journey competing in three different meets in the SoCal area at The Beach Invitational on Saturday.
In the 400-meter run,
Jackie Martin would turn out Utah's fastest time on the day, taking 14th-place out of 90 competitors with a time of 55.84, while
Brooklyn James finished 20th overall with a new personal-best time of 56.36.
Whitney Hessler (57.74) and
Lauren O'Banion (57.06) would go onto both turn in new PR's in the race, as well.
Taylor Watson was the lone Utah runner to compete in the 100-meter dash, taking 26th overall in an event that had 94 competitors with a time of 12.14.
Mesa Weidle registered Utah's lone time in the 800-meter event, finishing in a new personal-best time of 2:14.26.
The Utes closed out the running events finishing second-place out of 11 teams in the 4x400m relay. The team combined of LeBar,
Kolbi Sims, James, and
Jackie Martin crossed the finish line in 3:45.09, which sets a new season-best for Utah.
Maya LeBar competed in Utah's only field event on the day, taking 25th overall in the triple jump with a new personal-best mark of 11.70m (38' 4.75"). The mark also moved her from No. 10 all-time in school history up to No. 8.
Utah wraps up its three-meet event in SoCal this weekend, but will be back in action again next weekend – this time heading East to compete in the Drake Relays. Utah will take part in the three-day event, Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27.
