SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Softball dropped the opener of its three-game series with No. 3 Washington this evening, 13-0
Â
Utah mustered just three hits off of Gabby Plain, who no-hit the Utes last season.
Ally Dickman had a pair of knocks while
Alyssa Barrera delivered the other.
Â
The Huskies started the game with a strong showing. After an infield single to lead off the game, Sami Reynolds tripled to center for the first run. Noelle Hee followed with a single up the middle to score Reynolds and two batters later, Kaija Gibson blooped a ball to left for a RBI single. The next batter, SilentRain Espinoza singled through the right side to cap a four-run inning.
Â
Hee added another RBI to her total in the second, driving in Sis Bates with a single to right. Bates got in on the action with a RBI double in the third and with the bases loaded, Reynolds cleared them with a double for a 9-0 UW lead.
Â
In the fifth, a pair of singles and a four-pitch walk loaded the bases once more for the Huskies. Hee put the exclamation point on the evening with a grand slam to the scoreboard in left center as the visitors scored 13 runs for a second-consecutive game. Hee entered tonight's game with a .188 average and finished with six runs batted in. In fact, UW received 10 RBI from its 3-4 hitters in the lineup (Reynolds/Hee)
