UTES SEE SEMIFINALS
Competing in the ITA Regionals last week, Tattini had great success and worked her way into the semifinal round in both the main draw of singles, as well as the doubles main draw with partner
Whitney Hekking.
On the doubles side, the Mountain Region's sixth-seeded duo of Tattini and Hekking opened the event with an 8-5 victory over a doubles team from Air Force and then cruised to an 8-1 win against UNLV to advance to the quarterfinals. Tattini and Hekking would go on to record their third straight win and were set to face the seventh-seeded pair of Asano and Huang from UNLV, where the Utes' doubles run would come to an end.
Carrying the momentum over from doubles to singles, fifth-seeded Tattini rolled in the first two matches of the ITA Regionals and continued the dominant performances when she picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win in the quarterfinals over Denver's Camille Verdon Anderson. Matched up against the region's top-seeded singles player, Tattini dropped the semifinal match 4-6, 3-6 to Northern Arizona's Chiara Tomasetti.
HUNG REACHES FINALS AT SDSU
At the SDSU Fall Classic, sophomore
Lindsay Hung advanced to the championship round of the "Red" singles bracket. During the first day of competition, Hung topped Marija Mastilovic from McNeese State in the 'Red' flight, tabbing a 6-4, 6-1 victory. She then advanced to the semifinal round on the second day of action and defeated Grand Canyon's Celia Morel in three sets 4-6, 6-0, 6-3. In the championship match, Hung faced off against SDSU's Tamara Arnold and fell in a competitive three-set match.
LAST TIME OUT
Along with the appearances in the semifinals of doubles and singles, Utah had other great performances at the ITA Mountain Region Championships last week in Las Vegas.
Madeline Lamoreaux and
Lindsay Hung posted three wins as a pair, joining teammates Tattini and Hekking in the quarterfinal round.
In singles, Lamoreaux carded three wins to reach the quarterfinals. Highlighting the sophomore transfer's weekend, Lamoreaux tabbed an upset over the second-seeded TJ Fumagalli from Air Force in convincing fashion, 6-1, 6-1. Hung picked up wins in her first two matches to reach the round of 16, while Hekking won her first match and then closed out the event with a victory in the consolation bracket on day three.
