SALT LAKE CITY - Utah head softball coach Amy Hogue has announced the release of the 2015 slate of games, which includes four tournaments, 15 home contests and four Pac-12 matchups at Utah Softball Stadium.
Utah will face 28 different teams in a span of 53 games, with 11 of those teams coming off NCAA postseason appearances in 2014.
Heading into its fourth season in the Pac-12, the Utes will host conference teams Oregon, California, Arizona and Washington. Utah will also host Southern Utah and Utah State in non-conference action as well.
The Utes will open the 2015 campaign at the SoCal Collegiate Classic and will face Texas A&M, Notre Dame, Long Beach State (twice) and Idaho State. The tournament, which runs Feb. 6-8, will take place at facilities in Fullerton, Long Beach and Westwood over the weekend.
The team will then head to Las Vegas, Nev., Feb. 13-15 to participate in the UNLV Wilson/DeMarini Classic to take on LBSU, Seattle, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Nevada and UNLV.
The Utes will have a few days off before heading to Cathedral City, Calif., to participate in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, which runs Feb. 20-22. Utah will be one of 35 teams in what has become one of the largest and most competitive NCAA Division I softball events in the nation. The Utes will take on UC-Santa Barbara, Nevada, Tennessee, Ohio State and Cal Poly in the tournament.
Following a brief doubleheader against College of Charleston, with a site to be determined at a later date, Utah will closeout its regular-season tournament schedule with a trip across the Pacific Ocean to compete in the Hawai'i Spring Fling Tournament, which will take place March 5-8 in Honolulu, Hawai'i. The Utes will play Longwood (twice), East Carolina and Hawai'i (twice) in its final set of games before opening up conference play that next week.
Utah opens Pac-12 play with a three-game series at UCLA, March 13-15, and will then head to Lake Charles, La., to face McNeese State in non-conference action March 17-18.
The Utes will make its home debut March 21-23 with a three-game series against Oregon before returning to the road to play at Stanford March 27-29. A five-game home stand will follow as Utah hosts Southern Utah in a doubleheader on March 31 before playing Cal in a three-game set April 2-4.
Utah will play a pair of Pac-12 match-ups on the road against Oregon State (April 10-12) and Arizona State (April 24-26), sandwiched in with a home series against Arizona that takes place April 17-19.
Utah then returns home to closeout the regular-season with a non-conference game against Utah State (May 5) and the team's final Pac-12 home stand against Washington (May 7-9).
The Utes return 14 letterwinners from last season's squad that went 31-24 overall and finished sixth in the Pac-12 with a record of 8-15, including National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Pacific Region honorees Mariah Ramirez, Hannah Flippen and Anissa Urtez. Flippen was also tabbed a NFCA Second Team All-American selection as well.
