SALT LAKE CITY--The Utah softball team landed four athletes on the all-Mountain West Conference team. The league's coaches selected Glennis Donnelly, Devina Quintero, Melissa Stahnke and Lynsey Wall to the team. The honorees names were released at a banquet in Fort Collins, Colo., on Wednesday evening.
Donnelly, a senior, led the league with seven home runs during conference play, while ranking second with 20 RBI. She also knocked three doubles and boasted a .577 slugging percentage. This is the second year in a row Donnelly has made the all-league team.
Quintero posted an impressive debut season. The freshman has compiled a .344 batting average during league play, with five home runs and 19 RBI. She also adds four doubles and a .641 slugging percentage to her slate.
Stahnke led the Utes during league play with a .371 batting average. The senior drove in eight runs, while blasting three long balls, three doubles and a triple. This is the third time Stahnke has been named all-conference-she also received the honor as a freshman and as a sophomore.
Wall receives her second straight nod to the all-league team. The sophomore drove in five runs for the Utes, while knocking three home runs and a team-high five doubles during league play. Wall also compiled a .350 batting average, which was second on the team for league games.
"All four of these players are deserving of the honor," said Head Coach Mona Stevens. "They not only posted strong league performances, but also hit against the nation's toughest pitchers before league play began."
