SEATTLE, Wash. - Right fielder Eric Chevalier, a senior on the Ute baseball team, was recently named MVP of the All-American Invitational (AAI) and Player of the Week in the Pacific International League, where he is playing for the Seattle Studs this summer.
Chevalier went 8-for-15 (.533) with 8 RBI and a homer in the tourney. He also went 4-for-6 with 3 runs and 2 RBI in Seattle's lone league game vs. Kirkland last week. Chevalier currently leads the league with a .438 batting average.
Chevalier led Seattle to its first AAI championship by going undefeated in the tournament, which was held July 16-20 at Mt. Hood Community College. With the title victory, Chevalier and the Studs earned an automatic berth in the 2003 National Baseball Congress World Series.
