SALT LAKE CITY - Utah right-handed pitcher Clay Westmoreland, a sophomore from Mesa, Ariz. (Mountain View HS), has been named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week for May 5-11.

Westmoreland tossed a complete-game shutout (the first of his career) last Friday over Air Force, which was ranked 16th nationally in batting average (.327) entering the game. Westmoreland held the Falcons to a .133 average in the game as he allowed just four hits, while striking out four and walking one.

This is Westmoreland's second such award this season. He won the award for Feb. 17-23 when he pitched five of seven innings as the Utes upset then-No. 19 Texas A&M.
