SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah baseball team routed Air Force 12-2 in the first half of a doubleheader at Franklin Covey Field this afternoon. The Utes pounded off 16 hits, including three doubles, a triple and two home runs in the game, a make-up of one missed earlier this season.
Freshman Jason Price (3-1) got the win on the mound, pitching six innings. He gave up two runs on three hits, while striking out a career-high eight batters.
After a scoreless first, the Utes, playing as the visitors, scored four runs in the top of the second on an error, a two-RBI triple and a one-run single.
Utah added to its lead in the third when junior Cort Wilson hit a one-run double, followed by a two-RBI double by senior Wick Udy. Senior Jake Jordison then knocked a two-run homer to left center to put the Utes up 9-0.
Junior Eric Chevalier hit a solo homer to right field in the fourth, making it 10-0.
Then, in the fifth, the Utes strung together three consecutive base hits to load the bases. Chevalier then hit a double, driving in two runs and making it 12-0.
Air Force scored its two runs in the bottom of the sixth, one on an error, and the other on a base hit.
Five Utes had multi-hit games, led by Chevalier, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Wilson was 2-for-3 with one run and one driven in, while senior Brandon Biesinger was 2-for-3 with one run scored.
Udy and sophomore Matt Ciaramella rounded out the group with 2-for-4 performances. Udy scored one run and drove in two others. Jordison went 1-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.

The Utes and Falcons close out the series at 2 p.m. today in a nine-inning game at Franklin Covey Field.
