The University of Utah softball team continued Mountain West Conference play on the road with two wins over the Colorado State Rams. The Utes (21-15-1, 3-0-1 MWC) shut-down CSU (3-26-0, 0-3-0 MWC) 6-2 and 11-7, on Sun., Apr. 1 in Fort Collins, Colo.
In the first game, sophomore Niki Hayhurst went 2-for-3 with a double, one run and two RBI. Michele Larsen went 2-for-4 with an RBI and teammate Lyndsey Trevis went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Senior Kristin Arbogast recorded the win for Utah after pitching seven innings and giving up two earned runs, six hits, four walks and struck out six. She improves to 14-10-1. As a team, the Utes went 10-for-31, and recorded six runs and five RBI in the game.
In the late game, Utah recorded 13 hits in 34 at bats, along with 11 runs and 11 RBI. Hayhurst tied a school record three home runs in the late game for the Utes. She went was a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and tied a school record seven RBI in the game. Trevis went 1-for-3 with a home run, three runs and one RBI. Freshman Masie Ota went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Junior Molly McLean went 2-for-4 with two runs, one RBI and an impressive three stolen bases. Arbogast pitched six innings and gave up 10 hits, three earned runs, zero walks and struck out five in 29 batters faced before freshman Heather Bowlin came in to close the game. Bowlin recorded the win for the Utes, she moves to 6-5 overall.

On Tues., Apr. 3, Utah hosts Southern Utah at 1:30 p.m. The Utes will take on the San Diego State Aztecs on Fri., Apr. 6 at 1:00 p.m. (DH) in San Diego, Calif. On Sun., Apr. 8, Utah travels to UNLV for a doubleheader match-up at 12:00 p.m.
