Utah Volleyball Splits Time on the Road and at Home

Utes compete against Utah State in Logan, head home for ESPN broadcast against UCLA
SALT LAKE CITY– Utah Volleyball splits time on the road and at home this week after spending all last week at home in the Jon M. Huntsman Center.
First up, the Utes head up to Logan, Utah, to take on Utah State at 7 p.m. MT at the Wayne Estes Center on Friday, Sep. 11. Fans can catch all the action on the Pac-12 Broadcast.
Utah then comes back to the Huntsman Center to host an ESPN broadcasted match with UCLA on Sunday, Sep. 13 at 6 p.m. MT. Fans are encouraged to "Red Out" the arena.
QUICK HITS
• Alyssa D'Errico makes her debut (4-2) in 2026 as Utah Volleyball's sixth head coach in program history starting after legendary head coach Beth Launiere retired at the conclusion of the 2025 season after 36 years at the helm.
• Utah returns 13 players from last season's team that stamped the program's ticket to its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Outside hitter Kamryn Gibadlo is the most decorated of the group, earning First Team All-Big 12, First Team AVCA All-Region, and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors.
• The Utes welcome five newcomers to their 2026 squad that include two freshmen, and three transfers.
• D'Errico and the Utes started 2026 with four straight sweeps of their opponents (Utah Valley, Utah Tech, Oregon State, and Wyoming) setting a new program record for number of sweeps to start a season.
• The Utes set a new team aces record in three sets against the Cowgirls (8).
•Utah raced to a 25-15 first set win over No. 2 Pittsburgh last week at the Huntsman Center. Despite not ultimately coming away with the win, the Utes did hold the Panthers below their average hitting percentage (.280) at .275, and produced more kills, 51-47.

The Utes make the 87-mile drive up to Logan, Utah to take on the Utah State Aggies. It has been a very rough start for Utah State, still looking to find their first victory through five matches. Starting its 2026 campaign on the road, Utah State lost all three matches of the "Bluegrass Battle", hosted by Kentucky. They didn't find luck in the Gaucho Invitational either, however, the Aggies did take one set versus Iowa State who received votes in the AVCA poll. Utah hopes to extend their win streak to three-straight games versus the Aggies. Sami Blackett, Olivia Ruy and Ava Napierski were all highlighted by Pac-12 coaches as impact players to watch for this season from Utah State.

Utah vs. UCLA: 9-26

An old conference opponent comes to town to take on the Utes for the 36th time in program history. UCLA comes into the match receiving votes in the latest AVCA Poll. The Bruins started the year off right, winning two straight against Long Beach State and giving up only one set during their two-game, home-and-home, season-opening stretch. UCLA then flew across the country, where they were swept by No. 3 Kentucky in Lexington before sweeping the Miami Hurricanes twice in a row in Miami. The preseason tour continues as they face Utah State and No. 25 BYU prior to facing the Utes on Sunday. In the Big Ten Preseason Poll, Lola Schumacher and Marianna Singletary were picked for the all-conference preseason team.
UP NEXT
Utah hits the road to Greeley, Colorado to face Air Force, Denver, and Northern Colorado in the UNC Tournament from Sep. 17-19 before turning its attention to conference play the following week.
