Utah Volleyball Hosts Annual Utah Classic Tournament

Utes take on Wyoming, Long Beach State, and No. 2 Pittsburgh
SALT LAKE CITY– Utah Volleyball stays home at the Huntsman Center this week as it hosts its annual Utah Classic Tournament from Sep. 4-6.
First up, Wyoming comes to town on Friday, Sep. 4 with first serve set for 7 p.m. MT.
Utah comes back to the Huntsman on Saturday, Sep. 5 at 7 p.m. MT to host Long Beach State in the second day of the Utah Classic.
Finally, the Utes wrap up their tournament playing host to No. 2 Pittsburgh on Sunday, Sep. 6 at 4 p.m. MT. Fans are encouraged to "Red Out" the Huntsman Center. First fans through the door can pick up clear bags for the season.
All six matches of the Utah Classic will be available to stream on ESPN+.

• Long Beach State vs. Eastern Illinois- Friday, Sep. 4 at 4 p.m. MT

• Alyssa D'Errico makes her debut (3-0) in 2026 as Utah Volleyball's sixth head coach in program history starting after legendary head coach Beth Launiere retired at the conclusion of the 2025 season after 36 years at the helm.
• Utah returns 13 players from last season's team that stamped the program's ticket to its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Outside hitter Kamryn Gibadlo is the most decorated of the group, earning First Team All-Big 12, First Team AVCA All-Region, and AVCA All-America Honorable Mention honors.
• The Utes welcome five newcomers to their 2026 squad that include two freshmen, and three transfers.
• D'Errico and the Utes started 2026 with three straight sweeps of their opponents (Utah Valley, Utah Tech, and Oregon State) marking the first time since 2000 the program has accomplished this feat.
•Loryn Helgesen was named the UVU Tournament MVP, while Gibadlo and Sierra Grizzle made the All-Tournament Team.
•Gibadlo earned her 100th career ace against the Beavers in set two, followed promptly by ace 101, and ace 102. Gibadlo's back-to-back-to-back aces gave the Utes the second set win against Oregon State.
SCOUTING Wyoming
Utah vs. Wyoming: 45-25
H: 23-9 | A: 16-15 | N: 6-1
Utah kicks off its weekend against a long-time former conference mate, the Wyoming Cowboys. Two seasons ago, the Utes traveled to Cheyenne, where they swept the Cowboys. Wyoming has started 2026 hot out of the gate, handing Big 12 opponent Texas Tech a 3-1 loss before sweeping St. Thomas two days later. In the Mountain West Conference Preseason Poll, Wyoming was picked to finish fourth.
SCOUTING Long Beach State
Utah vs. Long Beach State: 2-10
H: 0-1 | A: 0-7 | N: 2-2
On Saturday, Long Beach State comes to the Jon M. Huntsman Center riding a six-match winning streak over the Utes. Utah hopes to secure its first win over LBSU since 1983. The Beach enters the match after opening the season with two losses to UCLA. Last season, Long Beach State posted a 22-9 record but lost to Cal Poly in the semifinals of the Big West Tournament. This season, the Beach was picked to finish second in the Big West Preseason Poll.
SCOUTING Pittsburgh
Utah vs. No. 2 Pittsburgh: 0-3
H: 0-0 | A: 0-0 | N: 0-3
The current No. 2 team in the country comes to town on Sunday to wrap up the weekend for the Utes. Pittsburgh enters the match with an already impressive résumé, notching wins over No. 3 Kentucky (3-1), No. 15 Kansas (3-1) and No. 6 Wisconsin (3-0). After sharing the ACC crown last season, the Panthers earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the semifinals, where they fell to eventual national champion Texas A&M. Pitt head coach Dan Fisher is now in his 14th season with the Panthers and holds a career winning percentage of .827.
