SALT LAKE CITY – Utah's women's basketball head coach
Gavin Petersen announces the addition of four new Utes transferring to Utah for the 2026-27 roster in Laia Conesa, Lena Girardi, Filipa Barros and Olivia Bradley.
Lena Girardi | 5-11 | Guard | Purchase, New York (Oklahoma State)
Girardi played her freshman season at Oklahoma State. She played in 28 games and averaged 15 minutes a game. She shot 43.6% from the field, 39.8% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the free throw line. Girardi averaged 7.8 points per game and 2.1 rebounds per game. She posted a career-high 29 points against Langston (11/6/25). Her 29-point performance included nine made from deep. Girardi will enter the 2026-27 season as a sophomore.
What Coach Petersen Says About Giardi: "Lena brings great size and a very strong skill set at the guard spot for us, and she can light it up from 3. What we love the most about her is how ultra-competitive she is and passionate she is about winning. She's so outgoing and personable which allowed us to make a strong connection with her and her family. She will make an immediate impact in all facets of our program, and we are ecstatic to welcome her to the Utah Family."
Laia Conesa | 5-11 | Guard | Barcelona, Spain (Kansas)
Conesa played the previous three seasons at the University of Kansas. In her career at Kansas, she has averaged 4.4 points per game while shooting 37.4% from the field and 78.6% from the free throw line so far. She's put up 126 total assists and averages 3.0 rebounds per game. Last season, Conesa played in all 36 games for the Jayhawks while shooting 37.9% from the field and 76.3% from the line. She was second highest on the team with 75 total assists and boasted 36 steals. Conesa will enter the 2026-27 season as a senior.
What Coach Petersen says about Conesa: "With Laia, we gain a valuable guard with 3 years of Big 12 experience. Her skill set allows her to play multiple positions in our system.. She has a great feel for the game and is a disciplined decision maker. Her tenacity on defense is going to bring a contagious energy to our team. We are looking forward to welcoming Laia to Salt Lake City!"
Filipa Barros| 5-9 | Guard | Vermoim Maia, Portugal (California Baptist)
Barros played the previous four seasons at the California Baptist. In her career, she is averaging 10.7 points per game, 7.9 rebounds per game and 4.3 assists per game. She's also amassed 154 steals. Barros has played in 67 games while starting 52. She is shooting 39.5% from the field, 34.6% from three and 79.9% from the line. During the 2025-26 season, Barros averaged 11.0 points per game while shooting 40.0% from the field and 40.7% from three. She also posted a season-high 32 points against UT Arlington (11/3/25) and a season-high 18 rebounds against UC Riverside (11/3/25). Barros will enter the 2026-27 season as a redshirt senior.
What Coach Petersen says about Barros: "Fi is an Elite point-guard with championship experience…she's a WINNER. She is so versatile at the PG position as a sharp shooter from 3, playmaker, and great rebounder from the PG position. These are all major reasons we wanted Fi at Utah. When recruiting her, it was important to her to be an extension of the head coach when she's on the floor, and we loved that about her. She will push the pace for us and have incredible energy on both ends of the floor. We can't wait for her to impact us immediately."
Olivia Bradley | 6-1 | Forward | Adelaide, South Australia (UC Santa Barbara)
Bradley played the previous three seasons at UC Santa Barbara. In her career, she averages 9.3 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game. Bradley is shooting 47.3% from the field, 26.9% from the three and 70.5% from the line throughout her career. She has also amassed 53 total blocks. During the 2025-26 season she shot 48.0% from the field, 28.2% from the three and 67.0% from the line. Last season Bradley averaged 13.2 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game. She also posted a career-high 19 points against Cal St. Monterey Bay (11/3/25). Bradley will enter the 2026-27 season as a redshirt junior.
What Coach Petersen says about Bradley:
"Olivia will bring a high motor, a versatile skill set and valuable experience to our program. She plays with a relentless mentality and never takes plays off. She has a unique ability to attack mismatches inside and from the perimeter. We appreciate her passion for the game and are excited to have two years with her."
