JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior faceoff specialist
Tyler Kloeckl was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week following the Utes' 20-14 win on the road win over Mercer, the league office announced Monday.
This marks the first career conference weekly award for Kloeckl, who was named the 2026 Preseason Specialist of the Year and was a All-ASUN First Team selection in 2025. Utah has won nine weekly awards from the ASUN this season, the most in the conference.
Kloeckl went 15-of-22 on faceoff tries against the Bears and collected a team-best 10 ground balls. The Lakeville, Minn., has won 59% of his faceoffs this season, the second-best mark in the ASUN and 17th-best nationally. So far in conference play, Kloeckl has won 37 of his 53 faceoffs, boasting a 69.8 win percentage. He also ranks 17th nationally with 6.44 ground balls per game, the third-highest average in the conference.
Kloeckl sports a career .527 faceoff win percentage, the second best in program history, and his 392 career faceoff wins also sit as the second most by any Utah Ute.
