OGDEN, Utah – The Utah track & field team had a great start to the weekend with several PR marks at the Weber State Spring Classic coupled with a great start to the heptathlon to open the Utah Spring Classic.

María Alvarado kicked off the evening in Ogden with a PR run of 13.88 (aa) in the 100m hurdles to move herself into the No. 3 spot all-time at Utah. Meanwhile, her raw time of 13.84 easily broke her previous Nicaraguan senior women's national record of 14.30 set last year the Central American Championships.

In addition, teammate
Lela Divinity finished fourth-overall with her PR run of 14.02 (aa) to see herself inserted into the No. 6 spot all-time at Utah in the 100m hurdles.

In her first collegiate 3000m steeplechase,
Allie Bruce played fourth with a time of 11:43.70 (aa). Shortly after, Utah's
Kait Durham, Alvarado,
Ellie Heslam and
Susmitha Jayanthi placed second in the 4x100m relay with a mark of 47.63 (aa).

Divinity and Heslam went 1-2 in the 400m dash for Utah with Divinity claiming the win with a time of 55.66 (aa) in her first 400m race while Heslam posted a new PR of 56.80 (aa).

Jayanthi wrapped up the day for Utah, running a new PR in the 100m dash with a time of 12.44 (aa) for fourth-overall.

UTAH SPRING CLASSIC [HEPTATHLON]
Earlier in the afternoon,
Glo Hussey competed in her first heptathlon as a collegian. She opened the multis by winning the 100m hurdles with a run of 14.62 (aa). She then followed up with another win, this time in the high jump when she posted a top height of 1.69m (5-6.5).

Hussey then threw a distance of 9.34m (30-7.75) in the shotput before taking second in the 200m dash behind a new personal best time of 25.85 (aa). At day's end, she would lead the heptathlon with 3043 points with two events remaining on Saturday (long jump & 800m run).

UP NEXT
The Women of Utah return home to host the annual Utah Spring Classic this Saturday, April 11, at the McCarthey Family Track & Field Complex. The multis will start at 10 a.m. (MDT) while festivities begin at NOON with the All-American recognition followed by the 5000m race at 12:15 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early ahead senior ceremonies – which is slated to begin at 12:45 p.m. following the kids races at 12:35 p.m. Admission is FREE for all fans in attendance.
