THIS WEEK
Utah Golf ends their week in Georgia after taking a
12th place finish at the Desimone in Northern California on Tuesday.
The Utes need to improve quickly after scoring 6-over 294 through three rounds earlier in the week and will likely rely on senior
Brandon Robison after he tied for seventh at the Desimone, recording 8-under 208 through two days of play.
Additionally, Utah needs a few bounce-back performances from some of its tried and true stars in order
to protect its title from a season ago.
The Utes' starting five will feature four returners from last year's Schenkel Invitational winning team, including Robison who finished tied seventh, along with
Sergio Jimenez who finished tied ninth,
Davis Johnson who tied for 13
th, and
Gabriel Palacios who tied for 23
rd.
This weekend will mark the second appearance for Utah Golf in
the Schenkel Invitational which is in its 46th year and considered one of the most prestigious collegiate golf tournaments in the country. The tournament takes its name in honor of hall of fame sports broadcaster Chris Schenkel, who was introduced to Statesboro, Geor., during WWII, forming a permanent bond between the Indiana native and town that exists to this day.

COACHES THOUGHTS
Garrett Clegg on putting a disappointing performance away quickly…
"We are excited to get to Georgia to end our week. This is a quick turn around and hopefully we will be able to bounce back. Our practice round on Thursday will be important-- we need to be ready for the challenge of changing grasses to Bermuda in Georgia. Despite that challenge, the Schenkel was a great tournament for us last year and we are returning four of the five players that competed for our title last season. The boys are excited to be back on a familiar course where they know they've had success before."
TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The Schenkel Invitational will span three 18-hole days for a total of 54 holes played. The tournament begins Friday, March 13 and conclude with the final round on Sunday, March 15.
