SCOUTING THE LOPES
Grand Canyon is coming off a 13-7 overall record in the 2025 season. Grand Canyon went 12-3 in home games. The Lopes sees a returner in junior Brice Patoux, who had won 10 of his singles matches last season and was named All-WAC first team. Grand Canyon is currently 11-1 in their official 2026 season.
SCOUTING THE REBELS
UNLV is coming off a 7-12 overall record in the 2025 season. UNLV went 1-5 in conference matches last season. The Rebels sees a returner in senior Vitaliy Horovoy, who had an overall singles record of 11-5. Horovoy went 6-0 when competing in the No. 5 spot. Grand Canyon is currently 6-4 in their official 2026 season.
THE UTES
The Utah men's tennis program returns seniors Max Relic and
Dante Teramo. The Utes also welcome back junior
Emmett Potter. Utah has one sophomore returning to the squad in
Charles Frey. The Utes welcome five newcomers with two transfers in
Lorenzo Esquici and
Simeon Terziev and three new true freshmen in
AJ Deem,
Oliver Mesicek, and
Balthazar Huss.
NEWCOMER MAKING WAVES
The new sophomore transfer Simeon Terziev is making waves in his first season as an Ute. Terziev has a 6-1 overall singles record. Simeon is on a six game winning streak after clinching a singles victory against Old Dominion in the Battle In Boro.
LAST TIME OUT
The Utah men's tennis team fell 4-3 against Old Dominion in their last game of the Battle In Boro. The Utes started off strong clinching doubles points. In singles play, Utah put up a fight winning in the No. 1 and No. 4 spots. Old Dominion clinched the victory by winning the remainder of the singles matches.
HEAD COACH ROELAND BRATEANU
The Utah men's tennis team welcomed back Roeland Brateanu for his twelfth season as head coach. Brateanu coached the team to a historic 2022-2023 season, earning their first Pac-12 Regular Season Title. Prior to that season, Brateanu led the team to an 18-0 record in the 2021 season and finished ranked in No. 50 in the Oracle/ITA finale ranking. Brateanu currently holds a 186-113 overall record at Utah.
