Utes take on a quick turnaround at the Hamptons Intercollegiate
THIS WEEK
The Utah Golf team takes on quick turnaround to compete in the Hamptons Intercollegiate after a seventh-place finish at the Mark Simpson Invitational last week.
Â
The last time the Utes made the trip to East Hampton was in October of 2022 where they finished sixth overall. There are no current players on the roster from that trip.
Â
Adding to the challenge, Utah will be without one of its best players as senior Sergio Jimenez prepares to compete at the Spanish Open from Oct. 8-11. Jimenez is the first Ute golfer to play in a professional international tournament.
Â
"After a rough start to our season through our first two events, we are looking to get our first solid golf tournament under our belts," head coach Garrett Clegg said. "This will be no easy feat with Sergio back home in Spain, competing at the Spanish Open, but I believe the boys are ready to step into our potential. We will be on an unfamiliar course, with a new starting five since the last time we played in the Hamptons, but our team is up to the challenge."
