SALT LAKE CITY – Utah junior
Kamryn Gibadlo was one of 30 players selected by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) to the preseason watch list for the Division I Player of the Year Award presented by Nike Volleyball on Wednesday morning.
"What a tremendous honor for Kamryn to be recognized as one of the Top 30 players in the country," said head Utah Volleyball coach
Beth Launiere. "She is prepared to be a great leader and key player for us this coming season.  Thank you to the AVCA for such an honor for both her and our program by putting her on the AVCA Watch List."
The Cave Creek, Ariz. native has been a force for Utah Volleyball since first stepping on the court as a freshman in 2023, finishing second on the team in both kills (284) and kills per set (2.61) in just 29 matches played, earning her a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman team.
Gibadlo's sophomore campaign in 2024 was even better, leading the team in kills (370), kills per set (3.43), attacks (990), and service aces (38) on their way to their 19
th NCAA Tournament appearance and a No. 23 finish. Additionally, Gibadlo finished top five on the team in blocks (47.0).
The talented outside hitter's efforts on the court last season earned Gibadlo
a spot on the All-Big 12 first team,
Pacific South Region honors,
CSC Academic All-District honors, and
AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
Utah's rising star has spent the summer working out with the USA Volleyball U21 National Team competing for the 2025 NORCECA Pan America Cup.
Gibadlo and the Utes will be back in action next month, starting with an exhibition against the Texas Longhorns on Friday, Aug. 15 at 12 p.m. MT.
