SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Volleyball finished the Utah Classic on the right foot with another
clean 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22) sweep, this time against former conference foe Washington State.

The first set started slow for the Utes who had to overcome an eight-point deficit for the win after being down 14-6 to the Cougars. Freshman middle blocker
Katelynn Field fired a kill to start the comeback that eventually led to a 25-22 set win.
Washington State continued to prove to be a formidable opponent through set two keeping the match within one, until senior middle blocker
Emrie Moea'i slammed a kill to put the Utes up 15-13. Utah continued to apply pressure to walk away with a 25-23 set win.
By set three, Utah was all gas and no brakes, quickly jumping to a 25-22 final win to clinch victory for the Utes who sit 3-0 on the 2025 season.

SET ONE
The first set started with the Washington State Cougars taking a 4-point lead over the Utah Utes until a kill from junior outside hitter
Kamryn Gibadlo got the Utes on the board. The Cougars held an 8-point lead through the first set until a kill by Field shifted the momentum of the set.
Moea'i had three-straight kills to help take the lead 22-21 over the Cougars. Moea'i finished the set with a .500 hit%.
Senior setter Leah Wilton-Laboy closed out the set with a service ace.

SET TWO
The second set started with a service ace from Washington State to open up the scoreboard. However, Utah answered with three straight kills from Gibadlo to take an early lead. Utah went on to win the set 25-23.

SET THREE
The Cougars opened set three with a kill, however, Freshman opposite hitter
Allie Grossenbach answered back with her own a kill. The Utes and Cougars took turns scoring, keeping the set close until an attack error by the Cougars gave the Utes the set point. Moea'i ended the set with a huge kill taking the Utes up, 25-22 and the match final.
STANDOUT STATS
- Defensive specialist Grace Moss tied her previous career-high in digs (2) in the first set alone and went on to set a new career-high (5).
- Grossenbach finished the first set with three blocks.
- Moea'i finishes the first set with a .500 hitting percentage, she also had a season-high 16 kills on the day.
- Sophomore setter Isabelle Marco set a career-high in kills (4).
- Sophomore libero Levani Key-Powell posted a career-high in assists (2).
- Gibadlo tied her career-high in assists (1).
UP NEXT
No. 23 Utah turns its attention to a massive, nationally televised Top 25 matchup with No. 9 Texas A&M at the Huntsman Center on Thursday, Sept. 4 with first serve set for 6 p.m. MT.
Fans that can't make the match can catch the action on ESPN2.
The Utes will then hit the road on Saturday, Sept. 6 to take on Utah State in Logan, Utah. First serve for that game is set for 7 p.m. MT.
