SALT LAKE CITY. – Utah freshman
Devyn Wiest has earned a spot on USA Volleyball's Girls U19 World Championship roster that will head to Croatia to defend their title from July 2-13.
Wiest was one of 18 training squad athletes in Colorado Springs, Colo. from June 1-7 competing with some of the best volleyball players in the country for a place on the travel roster.
"This is an amazing opportunity for Devyn," said head Utah Volleyball coach
Beth Launiere. "Anytime you can play internationally with and against the best players in the world in your age group, it makes you a better player. Devyn is motivated to be the best, and I know she will take full advantage of her time with the USA U19 team and represent Utah Volleyball at a high level. We couldn't be prouder of her and excited for this opportunity."
The Utes will be well-represented on the USA U19 squad with associate head coach Alyssa D'Errico serving as an assistant coach.
Up next, Wiest and D'Errico will head to the Netherlands from June 26-30 for more training before turning their attention to defending their world championship title from 2023.
