OFF THE BLOCKS
Utah will compete in two separate meets this weekend in Oregon. Friday's meet will feature 15 teams in the "open" meet while the "invitational" on Saturday will only include 7 teams in a scoring format. Friday's contest will be live-streamed on RunnerSpace+ while the Big Ten Network will broadcast the track evens live with RunnerSpace+ live-streaming the field events.
Â
PETERS, VRINGER MAKE OUTDOOR 5K DEBUT
Saturday's invitational meet will see sophomore
Anna Peters and junior
Erin Vringer maker their outdoor 5000m debut. Peters redshirted the outdoor season her freshman year and made her outdoor debut earlier this month at the Stanford Invitational, posting a time of 16:18.08 in the 5k. Friday's 5k will serve as her second outdoor meet as a collegian.
Â
Vringer has only run the 800m and 1500m exclusively to this point in her collegiate career. The Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, product made her collegiate outdoor debut last season and competed in her first NCAA Championships in the 1500m run – which saw her earn All-America Honorable Mention selections after redshirting the 2023 outdoor season.
Â
CAESAR IN THE 5K
After redshirting the outdoor season last year,
McKaylie Caesar looks to run her first outdoor 5k since 2023 on Saturday. The Lindsey, Calif., native made her outdoor debut as a member of the Utes earlier in April when she ran the fourth-fastest 10k all-time at Utah after recording a 33:05.56 at the Stanford Invitational. The last time Caesar ran the outdoor 5k was at the Big West Outdoor Championships in 2023 in Fullerton, Calif.
Â
AYERS RETURNS HOME
Freshman
Lauren Ayers will return to her home state of Oregon this weekend as she competes on Friday in the 1500m run on the track. She made her first return to the Beaver State during the fall when she competed at the Bill Dellinger Invitational with the Women of Utah.
Â
RELAY TEAM TAKES DOWN SCHOOL RECORD
Utah's 4x100m relay team of
Chelsea Amoah,
Emily Martin,
Bailey Kealamakia and
Megan Rose teamed up to take down the school record last weekend at the Weber State Spring Classic after recording a time of 44.56 (aa). The mark bested the previous record that only lasted less than two years and was set back on May 14, 2023. Martin is the only runner from that previous school record that ran in last week's record-breaking relay squad.
Â
QUALIFYING MARKS
With the regular-season winding down, here's a list of Utes that currently own a qualifying time for the NCAA West Regional (May 29 & 31) as of April 16, 2025.
Â
Â
UP NEXT
It will be a short turnaround for a group of Utes the following week as they head to Des Moines, Iowa, for the 115th edition of the Drake Relays (April 24-26). Unlike other years, Utah will not have its full compliment this year at the famed blue oval.
