FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The University of Utah dive's
Kathryn Grant and
Holly Waxman placed in the top 25 on one-meter on the first day of the NCAA Championships in Federal Way, Wash. at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center on Thursday evening.
"The women had a great event today," said head diving coach
Richard Marschner. "They dove really well and competed toe-to-toe with the best in the country. Having two women in the top-25 is an incredible accomplishment that few teams could even aim for, let alone achieve. Holly showed that she is one of the greatest divers in the country, as she's one of maybe two or three women to be top-25 on one-meter each of the past four years."
Who Runs the World?
- Junior Kathryn Grant earned the fourth-highest place in Utah history on the 1m event at NCAAs with her 22nd place and a finishing score of 273.60.
- Senior Holly Waxman was just behind her with a score of 269.70, finishing in 25th place.
- Freshman Callie Eaglestone completed her first NCAA event, placing 35th with a score of 250.80.
"I'm really proud of the girls and I'm excited to see how Holly and Callie compete tomorrow," said Marschner.
Looking Ahead
Competition for the divers continues tomorrow, with Waxman and Eaglestone taking on the three-meter springboard at 1:15 M.T. in Federal Way, Wash.
