FEDERAL WAY, Wash. –
Holly Waxman and
Kathryn Grant represented the University of Utah swim and dive program in the final day of the women's NCAA Championship, finishing off the season on the platform on Saturday afternoon at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
"I really just want to say thank you to Holly," said head dive coach
Richard Marschner. "She closed out her career here and without a doubt, she is the greatest swimmer or diver to come through the women's program. It has been a joy to coach her every day and see her develop as a diver and as a great human being. She embodies everything that is right with college athletics and she has forever impacted this program in a positive way."
Power on the Tower
- Senior Holly Waxman finalized her diving career with a score of 238.15 on her five-dive tower list. The Leeds, England native scored solid sevens on her back 2 ½ tuck off the seven-meter, adding 58.80 points to her overall score. Waxman ended in 31st place, just two places ahead of junior Kathryn Grant.
- Grant finished her event in 33rd-place, with a score of 234.30. The junior averaged 46.86 points each round, but was awarded 57.60 points on her final dive, a back 2 ½ with a 1 ½ twist off the ten-meter.
"The program is in good hands as Kat represents the school and team every bit as well as Holly. I'm very thankful for this team and the leadership shown by Holly and Kat, and am lucky to have been able to share this experience with them," said Marschner.
