Utah Picks Up 90-56 Win Over Western Colorado in Exhibition Matchup

SALT LAKE CITY –Utah women's basketball kicked off the 2025-26 season with an exhibition matchup with Western Coloardo where the Utes came away with a 90-56 victory Monday night.
Utah had five players score in double figures and were led by Reese Ross' 13 points.
GAME SUMMARY LA Sneed started the game hot by scoring six of Utah's 13 points in the first quarter. The Utes ended the first quarter on an 8-0 run, six of those points were scored in the last 55 seconds. The first quarter concluded 14-13 in Utah's favor. Utah continued to push in the second quarter and ended the first half with a 39-30 lead.
Utah found a groove coming out of the break by starting the third quarter on a 15-2 run. Reese Ross led the Utes scoring eight points. The Utes went 10-of-10 from the line in the second quarter to help push the Utes to a 39-30 lead at the half.
The Utes came out of halftime firing on all cylinders outscoring Western Colorado 32-15 in the third quarter. Utah continued to thrive during the fourth quarter to pull out the 90-56 victory.
LEADERS The Utes had five score in double figures and were led by Reese Ross. Ross scored 13 points notably going 6-of-6 from the line. LA Sneed finished the game strong going 6-of-9 from the field field goals for a total of 12 points. Maty Wilke, Evelina Otto and Grace Foster all scored ten points contributing to the Utes win.
Samantha Crispe and Evelnina Otto controlled the boards with six rebounds each. Brooke Walker led the Utes with four assists and Chyra Evans played strong on defense with a dominating five blocks.
COMPARISON Utah shot 47.9% from the field while Western Colorado shot 26.7% from the field. Utah went 23.3% from three making 7-of-30 while Western Colorado went 33.3% shooting 6-of-18. The Utes went 15-of-18 from the free throw line for 83.3% while Western Colorado went 18-of-19 for 94.7%.
The Utes out rebounded Western Colorado 48-35. Utah showed strong depth scoring 48 points off the bench while Western Colorado scored 16. The Utes dominated in the paint scoring 54 while the Mountaineers had just 14.
