FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Four Utes secured spots in A finals,
Emilia Nilsson Garip was named women's diver of the meet and the University of Utah swimming and diving team finished the 2024 Pac-12 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships in sixth place with 628.5 points on Saturday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.

For the third time in three competitions on the women's side, two Utes earned a spot in the A final and the final piece to that puzzle was the women's platform, where
Kathryn Grant and
Holly Waxman both accomplished that feat.
Grant's work in prelims yielded a score of 266.30, good enough for third and Waxman was just a single spot behind her with 259.30 points. In the final, Grant landed in seventh with a mark of 240.60, while Waxman claimed fourth, boosting her score up to 276.05.
The Utes also collected one more diving honor before leaving Washington. Nilsson Garip, after becoming the first Ute to ever capture two Pac-12 swimming and diving championships, took home the Pac-12's Women's Diver of the Meet award. The freshman from Sweden achieved this status after finishing first in the 1m on Thursday and the 3m on Friday.
"We had a great overall meet," said head diving coach
Richard Marschner, "and we finished really strong tonight with Kathryn and Holly in the A final. They had a fantastic meet. Everybody on the women's side and Elias did so well this week. I'm really proud of the effort and the work they put in and to see it pay off so well. Emilia being two-time champ and diver of the meet is fantastic.
"We just keep building as a program and its so exciting to see where we were when we started in this conference and where we're leaving it. I feel we're leaving it as one of the top, if not the top program. I'm excited about what we have coming ahead at zones and NCAA's and looking forward to seeing how well we can finish off the season."

Summer Stanfield and
Norah Hay both garnered places in the 200 back A final by posting top eight finishes in the prelims, Hay recording a time of 1:55.42 to place sixth and Stanfield touching the wall in 1:56.27 to take seventh. In the final, Hay took sixth place by logging a mark of 1:55.84, while Stanfield reached the finish in 1:55.99, placing seventh.
The Utes also received a pair of outstanding performances from
Cameron Daniell and
Marlene Sandberg in the 1650 free. Daniell ended the race with a time 16:30.34 to put up sixth place finish and her teammate was one spot behind her in sixth, as Sandberg clocked in at 16:38.03.
Anelise Hedges swam her way into the 200 breast B final, where she clocked in at 2:13.84,
Krystal Lieu finished the 200 breast C final in 2:17.29 and the Utes concluded the competition in the 400 free relay with
Reagan Cathcart,
Maddie Woznick, Hay and Stanfield posting a time of 3:22.47.
"We got the job done this morning with several huge swims to make finals," said coach
Jonas Persson. "We scored more points than last year and moved up one spot today to finish 6th. We were picked to finish 8th, so we proved that prediction wrong, which feels good."
