ATLANTA – Senior
Kathryn Grant wrapped up her stellar University of Utah diving career on Saturday, competing on platform at the NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships inside the McAuley Aquatic Center.
"Truthfully, I can't adequately explain how much Kathryn means to me and this program," head diving coach
Richard Marschner said. "She's a once-in-a-career person and having the opportunity to be her coach has been one of the great joys of my career."
Grant placed 35th on platform with a 215.25 total. She logged three dives that scored 49.00 or higher, including a 60.80 on her last collegiate dive, a Back 2 1/2 Somersault 1 1/2 Twist Pike.
The senior was one of only 16 women in the country to qualify and compete on all three events at the NCAA Championships. Grant placed 32nd on 1-meter and 45th on 3-meter at this year's championships, and reached NCAAs in each of her four seasons in Salt Lake City.
"I hesitate to try to put into words her impact on the team and program because it wouldn't be sufficient, Marschner added. "If you were to give me a pick of any person all time with whom to build a program around, she'd be the pick without question.
"Thank you Kathryn, for your leadership, your work, your performance and for always being authentically you."
