The Utah track & field team heads to Seattle this weekend for the UW Invitational, Jan. 28-29.

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track & field team heads to the Pacific Northwest this weekend to compete at the UW Invitational (Jan. 28-29) held inside Dempsey Indoor Track.

As the full indoor schedule begins, Utah send a full complement of competitors for this weekend's UW Invitational. Of the 22 competing for Utah, 11 will be making their indoor track season debut after taking a break from the cross country season. Meanwhile, Brooklyn James will see her first action on the track since the NCAA West Prelims this past spring. The Clackamas, Ore., native recently wrapped up the 2021 campaign with Utah soccer this past fall.

LAST TIME OUT
Sophomore Makenna McCloy set a new PR in the 200m at Utah's last meet, posting a 25.93 mark at the Snake River Open for second. Bailey Kealamakia was .15 faster in the finals of the 60m hurdles, finishing with a time of 9.15.

Meanwhile, Rachel Whipple posted a time of 59.47 for second overall after running in her first 400m race since December of 2018. The 4x400m relay squad of McCloy, Ruby Jane Mathewson, Whipple and Kealamakia ran for a time of 3:58.66 for a runner-up finish.

UP NEXT
The Utes will have a split squad the following week with a group going to Spokane, Wash., to compete at the WSU Invitational at The Podium while a group will stay locally and compete at the Weber State Invitational. Both meets will run from Friday – Saturday, Feb. 4-5.
