MOVING UP
With their dominance on the doubles court, the Ute duo of
Whitney Hekking and
Madison Tattini have moved up in the latest ITA poll that was released on Feb. 5, coming in ranked as the nation's No. 19 doubles team. Hekking and Tattini have started the 2020 season with a perfect 6-0 record to lead the Utes in doubles play.
Â
The spring season for the pair of Utes has been highlighted by the upset of the nation's then-ranked No. 3 duo from Central Florida. Tattini and Hekking downed the pair 6-3 to help push the Utes in a near team upset as UCF was ranked No. 12 in the nation at the time of the match. The strong start to the spring was carried over from fall play where the duo won the doubles title at the UNLV Invitational, as well as reaching the semifinals of the ITA Mountain Region Championships.
Â
HOME STRETCH AHEAD
Seven matches into the season, the Utes have played just two matches at the George S. Eccles Tennis Center, while seeing five matches away from Salt Lake City with two more on tap this weekend. Â After a seven-match road stretch that will conclude at UC Irvine and Loyola Marymount, Utah will then return to host three home matches at the Eccles Tennis Center.
Â
Next week, Utah will host Utah State on Friday, Feb. 22, followed by a match with Denver on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Utes will remain at home for another week to wrap up the three-match home swing against in-state rival BYU on Friday, Feb. 28.

Â
SCOUTING LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
Loyola Marymount women's tennis comes into their match with Utah with an overall record of 2-1, starting the season strong with dominant wins over Gonzaga and Oregon. LMU's sole loss of the season came at the hands of then-ranked No. 4 UCLA. The next day against Ole Miss, Utah struggled to bounce back from the day before and fell 0-4 to the Rebels to close out action in Ann Arbor.
