Returning from the holiday break and itching to get back on the track, the Utah track and field team returns to action this Saturday, Jan. 18, to compete in its first meet of the new year at the Bronco Invite. Making its second trip up to Boise, Idaho, this season, the Utes will send a large group of athletes to compete across multiple events in an effort to give more developing runners a chance to see where they measure up against competition. The meet is slated to begin at 9 a.m. (MT) with the field events and 10:45 a.m. (MT) with the running events at the Jacksons Indoor Track. Â

THE FIELDÂ
Teams joining the Utes this weekend include: Boise State (Host), Cal Poly, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Los Angeles, College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Nevada, Northwest Nazarene, Sacramento State and Washington State. Â
TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN
After breaking her own school record in the 55m dash, Taylor Watson's mark of 7.00 stands as the top time in NCAA Division I heading into the second month of the indoor season. The Aurora, Colo., product is one of four underclassmen to own a top mark in an event early on in the season.Â
In the MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation), Watson, Skyler Blair, Oneillia Fuller and Jasie York all own times that rank them in the top-five of their respective events. Watson sits in third in the 60-meter dash (7.56), Blair is fourth in the 200-meter event (25.10) while Fuller (56.88) and York (57.62) rank third and fifth in the 400-meter race, respectively. The 4x400-relay squad of O'Banion, Sims, Martin and Watson currently sit in second (3:49.44) with the time they posted at the Jacksons Open before the holiday break. Â
LAST TIME OUT
The Utes were back in Boise where they competed at the Jacksons Open hosted by Boise State. The highlight of the meet came courtesy of Watson, who downed another school record in her early season dominance. Watson earned the top-mark in her respective preliminary heat and backed it up with another stellar performance running a 7.61 PR in the 60-meter dash to capture the event title.Â
Sims joined the party running in the 60-meter hurdles taking home the event title with a PR time of 8.73 and moved herself into fourth all-time. In the 200-meter race, Blair ran a strong race, clocking a PR of 25.10 to finish first in her section and move into sixth all-time at Utah.Â
In the 400-meter event, junior transfer Fuller led the Utes in section one and took home first-place with a time of 56.88 while freshman York saw her first collegiate action placing third (57.62).
Wrapping up the busy day of racing for the Utes was the 4x400-meter relay squads. Entering two-different teams, the Utes ran away with the event as the Utah 'A' squad won the event with a time of 3:49.44 while the 'B' squad captured second with a mark of 3:57.72. Competing for the 'A' squad was O'Banion, Blair, Fuller and Faust.Â
UP NEXT
The Utah track and field team will make the trip to Lubbock, Texas, to compete at the Texas Tech Invite/Multis. The three-day-meet will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday Jan. 30 - Feb. 1, at the Sports Performance Center Indoor Track.
