DES MOINES, Iowa – At day two of the 110th edition of the Drake Relays, the Utah track and field team only had one squad of runners who competed in the 4x1600-meter relay on Friday afternoon.Â

The Utah 'A' squad earned a third-place finish with a time of 19:40.46. Running for the Utes in squad 'A' was junior
Poppy Tank, freshman
Scarlet Dale and sophomores
Bella Williams and
Trina Moreno. Tank lead off for the Utes coming around with the fastest split among her teammates in a time of 4:50 while Dale had a split 4:55, Williams with 4:59 and Moreno finishing up for Utah with a split of 4:56. Â

"Solid efforts all the way around and Poppy got us out to a great start," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "Scarlet and Bella kept us near the front and that allowed Trina to bring us home and capture our third-place finish. As for tomorrow we have the DMR which should be an absolute slug fest if everyone loads it. That's why we come here and it's what we need to help us prepare for the upcoming championship meets."Â

Back in action tomorrow, the Utes will continue competition at day three of the Drake Relays along with opening competition at the Robinson Invitational and Desert Heat Classic.Â
