FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - It was another successful day for Utah at the Pac-12 Swimming (W) and Diving (M/W) Championships. Four Utes earned top-10 finishes and two swimmers won finals during the evening portion.
"Today was a great one for the Utes," head coach
Joe Dykstra said. "We had a ton of top times, multiple 'A' finalists and a lot of excellent performances. We are excited to keep the momentum going into tomorrow."
Jordan Anderson had Utah's best finish of the day, taking seventh overall in the 400 IM.
Christina Pick and
Grace Horvath both qualified for the "B" finals with
Mandy Gebhart taking part in the "C" final. Pick swam a 4:16.92 to finish 14
th and earn the third-fastest time in Utah history. Horvath swam 4:18.55 in prelims, sixth fastest all-time for the Utes, and Gebhart touched in 4:19.61 during prelims, for seventh place all-time.
After last night's record-setting performance,
Aryanna Fernandes took eighth in the 100 fly. Her time of 52.48 was the second fastest in Utah history.
Emma Broome placed 18
th and her time of 53.89 in prelims moved her into eighth place all-time on the Utah leader boards.
The 100 back was another strong event for the Utes.
Audrey Reimer won the "B" final in 53.20, which is the second-fastest time in Utah history.
Emma Broome sits right behind her, clocking in at 53.51 in the prelims and placing 12
th overall.
Emma Lawless moved up to fifth all-time, finishing 18
th in 53.78 and
Sarah Lott sits in sixth with a time of 53.94 (19
th place). All four times were NCAA "B" cut marks.
Darby Wayner swam a 1:01.57 in prelims of the 100 breast and finished 15
th while
Genny Robertson won the "C" final in 1:01.62.
Ianire Casarin swam the sixth-fastest time in Utah history during the 200 free (1:47.59).
On the boards, Daniel Theriault qualified for the finals of the platform with a preliminary score of 281.10. He would eventually finish fifth.
Clare Greenlow was the top performer in the women's three meter, finishing 17
th.
Reimer, Robertson, Fernandes and
Gillian St. John closed the evening by taking seventh in the 400 medley relay in 3:37.8.
The Utes sit seventh after three evenings of action with 357 points. No. 1 ranked Stanford leads the way with 1,154.5 points, followed by No. 6 Cal with 964.5
Tomorrow is the last day of competition with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and 400 free relay scheduled along with women's platform diving. Finals coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. MT on Pac-12 Network.
