QUICK KICKS

Paola van der Veen tied for the team lead with eight goals apiece last season and both Utes have scored four times this year to pace the team and rank among the top 10 scorers in the Pac-12.
-
Carly Nelson is third among Pac-12 goalkeepers with 31 saves this season
- Utah ranked fourth in the Pac-12 last season with 27 goals (1.4 per contest)
-

Â
SKOLMOSKI SOARING UP CHARTS
Hailey Skolmoski scored the 11th game-winner of her career in a 1-0 win over Nevada. She moved into fifth place in Utah history with the 26th goal of her career, matching Jacki Doman (1995-96).
Â
Skolmoski, the first and only Ute earn First Team All-Pac-12, now needs four goals to catch Shauna Gurr-Bingham (1999-2002) for fourth place in Utah history. The senior striker was named to the MAC Herman Watch List last season and is a NSCAA All-Pacific Region honoree, CoSIDA All-Academic First team selection and US U23 Women's National Team call up.
Â
LATE GOALS COSTING UTES
A common thread is visible in four of Utah's five losses this season, late goals. In the opener, Utah allowed a goal with 13 seconds remaining to Minnesota. At No. 19 Kansas, the Jayhawks tied it in the 86th minute and won it in overtime. BYU scored in the 85th minute after Utah rallied from two goals down and in the Pac-12 opener, Oregon netted a winner in the 87th minute. The Utes also let a lead slip in a 2-1 loss to Oklahoma.
Â
PO PICKS UP PAIR OF HONORS
Paola van der Veen was an All-Pac-12 performer last season and named All-West Region by the United Soccer Coaches.
Â
A native of The Netherlands, Van der Veen responded to an injury-plagued sophomore season with an outstanding junior year. Van der Veen finished fourth in the conference with eight goals and fifth in the league with 20 points, pacing the Utes in both categories.
Â
This was the second Pac-12 postseason honor for Van der Veen. She earned a spot on the All-Freshman team in 2015 when she paced Utah with six assists, ranking sixth in the Pac-12.
Â
SERIES HISTORY
Utah is 7-9-0 against Arizona, 4-4 away from home. The last six meetings between the teams have all been decided by a single goal, including last year's Ute loss at home. After falling behind 3-0, Lulu Borges and
Hailey Skolmoski scored to pull Utah back in the match. The Utes have won the last two in Tucson with Skolmoski knotting the score before halftime and getting the winner with 20 minutes to play in 2016.
Â
Utah is 4-5-2 against Arizona State, 0-4-1 in Tempe. These teams have tied the last two meetings with the Sun Devils scoring late in both matches. Last year, Paola van de Veen scored a pair of goals in a 2-2 draw in Salt Lake City.
