SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah track and field team prepares to head up to Pocatello, Idaho, to compete in the Mountain State Games. The two-day meet is hosted by Idaho State University and will take place Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3, at the Holt Arena.
"It should be a nice meet; the Mountain State Games is always the best meet of the year that they host up at Idaho State," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "We should get some good competition and give those kids a great chance to continue competing and see where they are at."
Starting off the weekend for the Utes on Friday night will be junior's
Jade Mulvey and
Hannah Allred. Mulvey and Allred will be competing in the 5,000-meter event. Last time out, Muvley and Allred competed in the 3,000-meter event at the Bronco Invitational where Mulvey placed sixth and Allred took home ninth place.
On Saturday, The Utes will be sending up about 10 kids to compete in the 400-meter, 800-meter, mile, and the 3,000-meter events.
"Excited to go back up to Pocatello," Kepler explained. "It's a six lane 200-meter bank track that is made of wood, it's loud, and it's an interesting place to race. We're just excited to get the kids back up there and give them another opportunity."
