IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Utah men's golf team will close out the 2016-17 regular season this weekend, participating in the Hawkeye Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event will run this Saturday and Sunday, April 15-16, at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa.
The Hawkeye Invitational field includes a total of 14 teams this weekend. Along with the Utes and tournament host Iowa, the field will also be comprised of Arkansas State, Denver, DePaul, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Marquette, Minnesota, Missouri-Kansas City, Nebraska, South Dakota State and No. 12-ranked Texas Tech.
Finkbine Golf Course, which is home to both Iowa men's and women's golf teams, will play at par-72 and 7,186 yards this weekend. Teams will play 36 holes on Saturday, beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CT. The final 18 holes will be played on Sunday, which will also have a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CT.
Utah's line-up this weekend will consist of senior
Gentry Hicks, sophomores
Kyler Dunkle and
Nathan Wunderli, along with freshmen
Jordan Costello and
Mitchell Schow.
The Utes are coming off a third-place finish at the PING Cougar Classic just a few days back, where both Hicks and Costello posted top-10 performances. Overall, Utah has registered a school-record five top-three finishes on the season.
