Salt Lake City-- University of Utah women's tennis (3-1) will kick off Pac-12 Conference play with matches at Arizona State (5-2) at 1:30 p.m. on Friday and Arizona (8-3) at noon on Saturday. Utah's match at Arizona State will be available on ASU Live Stream-3.
Utah notes
The Utes are coming off a victory over in-state rival BYU in Provo for their first road victory of the season. Against BYU, the Utes dropped the doubles point but rebounded to win each singles point to win the match, 6-1. They are 1-1 on the road after a 2-5 loss at Fresno State on Feb. 4. The Utes have a 2-0 record at home this season, as they defeated New Mexico, 5-2, and Wisconsin, 4-0 in February.
Opponent notes
The Sun Devils faced a challenging weekend hosting No. 9 Pepperdine on Mar. 3 and No. 2 Ohio State on Mar. 5. They fell to Pepperdine in a narrow loss, 3-4, and to Ohio State in a 0-4 defeat. The Sun Devils have faced many ranked opponents this season, including a close loss to No. 13 Texas Tech, 3-4 and a win over No. 16 South Carolina, 4-3 at the ITA Kick-off Weekend in January. They have also recorded dominant victories over Nevada, 7-0, San Diego State, 6-0, and San Diego, 4-0 throughout February.
The Wildcats kick off their Pac-12 schedule with matches against Colorado on Friday and Utah on Saturday. They have already amassed an 8-3 record this season, including a home victory over Tulane, 5-2. The Wildcats are coming off a difficult road trip in Texas, where they fell to North Texas, 2-5 and to SMU, 3-4. They have a 7-0 home record so far this season.Â
