THIS WEEK
The Utah men's golf team will wrap-up its fall portion of the 2017-18 schedule this week, competing at The Health Plan Mountaineer Invitational, which will be held at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, W. Va. The tournament will take place this Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 9-10.
THE FIELD
A total of 16 teams will comprise the field for the Mountaineer Invitational, which includes tournament host West Virginia, Akron, Bowling Green, Davidson, Eastern Kentucky, James Madison, Loyola (Md.), Marshall, Ohio, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Towson, Utah, Winthrop and Youngstown State.
THE COURSE
Pete Dy Golf Club will play at par 72, and 7,308 yards this week. Ranked as the No. 1 course in West Virginia, by Golf Digest, Pete Dye Golf Club ingeniously weaves mining remnants and rambunctious terrain into a course that tempts and tests you from the opening tee shot to your final putt. Spread out over 250 acres amidst the Appalachian Mountains, the fairways bob and weave through wildly rugged terrain and Dye's graceful earth sculptures.
One of the masters of the modern era of golf design, Pete Dye worked his legendary alchemy to transform a former coal mine in the mountains of West Virginia into a stunningly beautiful and engaging course that ranks among his greatest works.

LAST TIME OUT
The Utes finished in third place at the Nick Watney Invitational last week, carding a three round score of 22-over par (286-290-298=874). Despite the high scores, Utah still managed to have three players register top-20 finishes. Freshman
Tristan Mandur carded a two-day score of 4-over par (217) to finish in a tie for sixth place, freshman
Blake Tomlinson tallied a score of 6-over par (219) to finish in a tie for 14th place and junior
Kyler Dunkle posted a score of 7-over par (220) to finish in a tie for 19th place.
UP NEXT
The Utes will break for the winter and will return to action next spring. Utah's first event in 2018 will be the John Burns Collegiate, which will take place Feb. 15-17, at Wailua Golf Course in Lihue, Hawaii.
