SEATTLE, Wash. - Junior
Shaylen Crook opened competition at the UW Invitational Friday night for the University of Utah track and field team. Crook competed in the 5000-meter run, where she finished the race in a time of 17:41.29. She placed 14th in her heat and 32nd overall at the Dempsey Indoor Track in Seattle, Wash.
"Shaylen ran solid for 4K and then the wheels fell off a bit," head coach
Kyle Kepler said. "That can happen in the first race of the season. She just has to continue to work hard and get sharper so she can finish what was a pretty good race for 80 percent of the distance."
Utah will continue action at the UW Invitational beginning at 12:30 MT with the first heats of the mile run featuring freshman
Poppy Tank and sophomore
Sadie Wassum. Action for the Utes will continue throughout the rest of the day with the last heats of the mile run, the 800-meter run, the 3000-meter run, and the 4x400 relay. Live results are available viaÂ
