ERIE, Colo. – The University of Utah men's golf team returns to action this coming Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 26-27, at the 7th Annual Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational at Colorado National Golf Club.
Joining the Utes at the event will be Air Force, Boise State, Campbell, Colorado, Gonzaga, Houston Baptist, Northern Colorado, Santa Clara, Seattle, Southern Utah, Texas-Arlington, Utah State, Utah Valley, Washington State, Weber State, Wichita State and Wyoming.
Colorado National Golf Club will play at par 72 and 7,745 yards for the event, which will feature 54 holes. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. MT, followed by 18 holes on Tuesday in a staggered shotgun format. Tuesday's final round will have the top four teams playing in five tee times off No. 1 beginning at 7:55 a.m. MT. The remaining teams and players will play a shotgun start beginning at 8:15 a.m. MT.
This will be Utah's first time to compete at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational since the 2013-14 season and fourth time overall.
The Utes are coming off a second-place finish at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate in Pullman, Wash., back on Sept. 12-13. Utah had three players finish among the top-25, which included senior
Gentry Hicks tying for 14th, while both junior
Kyler Dunkle and freshman
Mitchell Schow tied for 21st overall.
Utah will feature the same line-up next week as it did in the season opener. Along with Hicks, Dunkle and Schow, freshmen
Jordan Costello and
Christian James will also tee it up on Monday.
